| Introduction
The Somali American Chamber of Commerce was historically founded
in Columbus, Ohio circa 2003 by a group of Somali entrepaneurs
and businessmen from a variety of different backgrounds -
including merchants, professionals, developers, retailers
and restaurant owners, as well as those involved in trade
associations and social service organizations. All were united
by the common interest in serving and doing business with
the growing community of 75,000 Somalis located in and around
Central Ohio.
The Mission of the Somali American Chamber
of Commerce is to work proactively on behalf of its members
and constituents. It aims to be an indispensable organization
for the advocacy of economic well being, community development
and quality of life. Upholding the highest standards of conduct
and excellence, it is the goal of the SACC to assist the Columbus
Somali Community with integration into the business environment
and culture which exists in Central Ohio.
